A new Content Management System
The HSeT team has developed a new Content Management Sytem (CMS) which will facilitate the administration of the different websites and portals by our partners and contributors.
The content management system (CMS) consists of a data base containing:
- The content (web pages, illustrations, animations, videos, references, glossaries).
- The learning activities (Article-, Protocol-, Case-, SOP-based learning applications) as well as the virtual microscope.
- Procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment.
The procedures are designed to do the following:
- Allow for a large number of people to contribute to and share stored data.
- Aid in easy storage and retrieval of data.
- Reduce repetitive duplicate input.
In addition the CMS allows the use of different Learning Management System (LMS) whether open source (Moodle) or commercial.
The LMS aims to:
- Control access to data, based on user roles (defining which information users or user groups can view, edit, publish, etc.).
- Improve the ease of report writing.
- Improve communication between users using communications tools (webinar, chat and forum).
Note of caution
The transfer of content and learning activities from the old platform to the new CMS is a complex procedure. It is possible that some links or activities are still not fully operational. HSeT would appreciate if you could inform us about problems. Many thanks. Last update: Tuesday, August 16, 2011
